Systems Integration

LOGTEC provides systems integration of technical components (software, hardware, and communications) and organizational components (processes and procedures). This support includes analyzing system requirements from an engineering perspective; evaluating hardware, operating systems, communications, web and emerging technologies, and data management technologies; and integrating COTS/Government off-the-shelf (GOTS) and custom-developed applications. LOGTEC analyzes and resolves interoperability issues in hardware, software, communications, databases, interfaces, COTS and GOTS, and web-enabled applications. We ensure adequate capacity (both hardware and communications) for both existing and planned information systems. We identify system infrastructure, data distribution, and development plans (such as spiral development) to support new software development or reengineered systems. LOGTEC develops architecture transition plans to GCSS-AF, DoD Joint Technical Architecture (JTA), and other future DoD target architectures. We plan for and integrate COTS/GOTS software. We identify new technologies, their applications, and opportunities for technical insertion; prototype new technologies; and evaluate risk/cost/schedule of new technology implementation. We plan for database management systems, system software, and application software upgrades. LOGTEC performs software tool evaluations in areas including development/reengineering; data depot/data warehouse; business process reengineering (BPR); web, client-server, and distributed processing; office automation; and process improvement tools.
